Lead time

Most kit-set parts we sell are made to order here in NZ.

Steering kits, intakes etc typically take less than 2 weeks to be made & shipped. This depends on stock levels at WattsCraft & our suppliers.

Aluminium kit-sets typically take around 3 - 6 weeks to cut & fold. We do not carry stock.

We can supply a bare hull within 6-9 weeks ex Dunedin.

For turn-key or partially completed boats we suggest our partner companies:

Peak Marine - Wanaka (NZ)

AlexCraft - Mosgiel (NZ)

RSRacecraft - Idaho (USA)

Kit-set instructions & compatibility

We provide full email & phone support for the construction of the hull. All hull kits include instructions with photographs (see here).

We also provide photographs, support & instructions as required for installation of other kit-set items we sell.

Please get in touch if you have questions regarding the compatibility of your preferred engine & pump with the kit-set parts.

We do not provide full instructions to fully finish & fit out you boat. Some problem solving is always required when fitting your chosen engine & pump. We are happy to give advice if it is a combination we have experience with.

Kit-set build complexity & difficultly

We rate our kit-set items on complexity to build/install. The rating scale is relative to aluminium fabrication in general.

The CNC cut & folded kits make building a boat much easier. However, basic experience in metal fabrication and mechanical aptitude is certainly required for all kit-set items and our hull construction instructions assume a certain level of knowledge.

Aluminium welding skills and suitable welder(s) are required for most kits. Hulls can be primarily MIG welded but TIG welding is preferable for some parts e.g. attaching handrails

Its is the customers responsibility to ensure they have the required skills to build a functional safe boat. We are very happy to discuss what is involved & your equipment before you commit to purchasing a kit.

Shipping or pick-up

WattsCraft aluminium kit-sets are CNC cut & folded in Dunedin (NZ). Kit-set products are sent via courier or freight. Freight will be calculated for each order. Pick-up can be arranged.

Here are some examples of costs (examples only, actual costs will vary).

  • Folded ready to weld kit shipping

    • South island $150 - $300 +GST

    • North Island $200 - $400 + GST

  • Steering kits, intakes, etc. ~$15-30 NZ wide.

  • Intake/grill ~$200 - $300 to USA, Canada & most other countries.

Folded kit-set hulls can be picked-up on a medium/large trailer or flat deck truck. Typical Utes decks are a bit short unless you have long solid builders roof racks. Bring a lot of packing material and at least two good 2500kg tie-downs to ensure the load is secure. Pick-up is required within one week of kit completion.

International kits-sets and freight

We have some overseas suppliers for hull kit-sits. New suppliers will be added over time.

  • Vancouver (CAN) - CNC cut & folded ready to weld hull kits, UHMWPE plastic keel plates, and trailer frame kits.

  • Idaho (USA) - Kits and full service including turn key boats (RSRacecraft)

Please email for prices from these locations or if you are in other locations around the world. Prices are generally similar to NZ prices shown on this website.

Alternatively kit-sets can be sent from New Zealand cut, rolled, and folded. Complete with accessories and ready to weld. International freight costs is around $2000 to your nearest port depending on destination, please get in touch for a quote.
